FOUND FURNITURE

Being that we have moved into a smaller location, we are unable to sell the amazing furniture we have had in the past. I know that some of our loyal customers were totally bummed out by this, so I have decided that I am going to start a Found Furniture update for the blog!!! I will be bringing the camera with me to all of my buying locations to see if there is anything Victorian, mid century modern, or just plain old rad for sale. I will post a pic of it along with where it is being sold.

I am so super excited about this feature and I am hoping that our customers will still love us just the same.

Here are a couple of older pics that I found on Google of past furniture we had. If you have any pics, please send them to us so we can post them to our blog.

Hoping to find some worthy pieces tomorrow,
check back to see if I have any luck.

BIG NEWS! We're Moving!

After a decade of bringing you the best vintage clothing, furniture, and housewares at our location at 534 South Street, we are closing our doors and moving to a new spot at 508 South.  While we are sad about leaving our dear neighbors at Tattooed Mom and Repo Records, we are excited to start fresh at our new shop next to Cheesesteak Tees.  We are opening with a bang, debuting vintage and designer pieces that we have saved especially for the grand opening. Be sure to stroll down the street toward the end of the month to see our new place!

What to Wear, What to Pair: Mad About Maxis

WHAT TO WEAR

Maxis are making a comeback for the upcoming season, and what better way to try this trend than rocking the real deal? Here are some of my favorite floor length frocks that can be yours for just $18!

The Look: Back in Black

Photobucket

A basic black maxi is a great way to ease this piece into your wardrobe.  Simple and classic, this dress serves as a blank slate to show off your most outlandish of accessories.

The Look: Flirty in Floral

Bold but feminine, seventies floral patterns have such a wow factor that a dress like this packs a punch without any fuss.

The Look: Funky Yet Formal

Subtle adornments make this maxi my favorite.  Its sheer chiffon sleeves and gold plated accent at the waist add a formal touch to its vibrant floral pattern.

WHAT TO PAIR

Working with a dress as long as a maxi can be tricky when considering accessories, especially when it comes to shoes.  While I am a vintage fanatic, I am very adamant about pairing vintage garments with modern pieces so my look comes off as current rather than costumey.

A summer staple for shoes in the seventies was wooden platform sandals and clogs.  There's no need to scour the net for authentic seventies platforms which normally cost a pretty penny, run in impossibly small sizes, and come with no guarantee of quality or condition.  Many top shoe designers today make the same exact models that will sass up your maxi as well as do wonders for the rest of your wardrobe. Here are some of my favorite kicks to compliment your maxi that are available now:

Swedish Hasbeens
This shoe company that was founded in the 70's has stuck to its roots with pride, delivering high-quality handmade footwear in the same factory in which it began.
Swedish Hasbeens T-strap Clog

Jeffrey Campbell
My go-to shoe destination to revamp retro, Jeffrey Campbell makes sky-high platforms with sleek designs transforming the most common pieces into a hotlist-worthy must haves.

Trend Alert: Color Me Coral

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Spring 2011
Perk up your pout for spring with a bright splash of coral! Light peachy tones and striking shades of orange lit up the runway as spring collections were revealed back in September. No matter what your style, it's easy to embrace this trend with these simple options:

Go For the Bold!

M.A.C. Electro Lipstick in Neo Sci Fi
To really kick off the season's favorite shade, try M.A.C.'s outrageously orange Electro Lipstick in Neo Sci Fi.  This highly pigmented lip color takes coral to the next level!

Kissed by a Rose

Kat von D Lipstick in A Go Go
A perfect blend of deep coral and classic red, Kat von D's Lipstick in A Go Go is a fun take on a tried and true shade.

Chic and Sheer

Chanel Glossimer in Coral Love
For a softer, subtler coral shade, go for a shimmery gloss like Chanel's Glossimer in Coral Love.
